Happy New Year! It is hard to believe that we are wrapping up the first half of the school year this week. Please continue to check FOCUS. Teachers will be submitting grades this week for the second quarter. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the teachers directly. I am very optimistic for what the rest of this school year will bring. I know that with your support, our students are going to be extremely successful both academically and behaviorally. Please continue to emphasize the need to stay focused and engaged in classrooms and the importance of completing assignments on time. Our PM2 state exam gave me so much hope and I know that we are going to meet the goals that will elevate us into the "B" grade that reflects the Discovery I am proud to be the principal of.
Speaking of goals, I wanted to take a moment to share with you what I believe our students can achieve:
- Reading PM3
- Proficiency Goal: 50% (PM2 has us at 41%)
- Learning Gains Goal: 60%
- Lowest Quartile Learning Gains Goal: 50%
- Math PM3
- Proficiency Goal: 46% (PM2 has us at 23%)
- Learning Gains Goal: 64%
- Lowest Quartile Learning Gains Goal: 57%
- 8th Grade Science Goal: 50% (Last year was a 48%)
- Civics: 80% (Last year was a 79%)
Please continue to ask your student what they are going to do to help us achieve these goals!
