As we continue to get closer to the end of the school year, we have seen an uptick in inappropriate behaviors. Please understand that now, more than ever, is time for your student to lock in at school to ensure academic success. This past week we had several expulsions at Discovery. It is extremely important that you talk to your students about their interactions at school between them and adults and also them and their peers. Students must also remember that any vapes and weapons will result in law enforcement action and appropriate school discipline. With roughly four weeks left, now is the time for all students to focus on academics and not any drama that might be popping up. If students have issues with others, they need to report it to an adult and allow us to handle it. If a student doesn't feel an adult handled it, they need to come see me.
With that said, we are on the cusp of something great here at Discovery. In recent days, our 8th grade students have taken their Mock Science, Civics, and Algebra exams in preparation for our end of the year testing. I am extremely excited to share that our 8th grade students have scored higher on all of the mocks than any other 8th grade class in recent years. With their success, I know that Discovery is going to earn the "B" grade we have been chasing after for years. I've always said that academic success at Discovery is not a race, but a marathon. Each year we have improved and earned the highest percentage of possible points than ever before. I know that this year is the year that we surpass all expectations and join the ranks of the "B" school in Osceola County.
