Week of August 24-28, 2026

Picture of Mr. Gary Dunn III / Principal

Hello Explorer Family!

It is hard to believe, but we have just wrapped up our second week of school, and I am celebrating all of the successes of our students. I have been extremely impressed with the positive behavior of the vast majority of our students. The positive attitude that I witness each day from our students is extremely uplifting and a huge blessing to all of us on campus.

As we continue to navigate the first month of school, I encourage our 6th grade parents to have conversations with their student and just remind them that although horseplay is fun, we can't have it at school. Today, I noticed for the first time, the kid like behavior of many of them. Although I love seeing the innocence, they just need to be reminded that they can't engage in any physical horseplay. I also want to encourage our 7th grade parents to have a discussion with their students about the importance of getting to class on time. Although it is great seeing them want to be with their friends during passing times, it is important for them to walk and talk as they go to their classrooms. To our 8th grade parents, amazing job...I currently have no concerns and am proud of them. (I'm proud of all of our students).

I also want to continue to thank the vast majority of you, the parents, for your extremely positive interactions. Although you probably disagree with me from time to time, civil discussion/debates are always appreciative. My team and I attempt to be as levelheaded as possible, but please know that being loud and argumentative with us doesn't earn points and usually doesn't allow you to accomplish what you hope to. Please keep the lines of communication open with us and we will always try our best to work with you.

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend, and I look forward to a positive week next week as we start the first round of our state testing. Next Thursday, all students will be taking their PM1 reading test.
