I want to thank all of you for what was a fantastic week. With that said, I am asking or your help in communicating with your student the need to follow all expectations. This past week we saw an uptick in students displaying physical aggression. When we find ourselves in time of conflict, putting hands on others is never acceptable. As these students have experienced, students doing so will receive no less than 3 days of OSS, most are receiving 5 days of OSS, and possibly even expulsion. Please understand that everyone has the right to come to a school that is safe and orderly. Students have no right to interrupt the learning of others, and when they do so, severe consequences are being given.
Although unrelated, if you have male students, please discuss with them the proper use of a bathroom. My custodians have reported to me that numerous bathrooms on campus are messy due to where male students are deciding to relieve themselves. I would not think I'd have to say this; however, I am a principal of a middle school; the only place to relieve oneself is in the toilet. Apparently, bathroom practices in some homes are not the same in which I grew up. LOL.
Ok, with that said, don't forget to encourage your student to earn the various rewards we have throughout each week. Students who have zero tardies are able to wear crocks/slides each Wednesday. Students with zero absences are able to be put into a drawing for a week of dress down. Students with zero referrals are able to participate in "Fun Friday" during lunches. We are trying our best to reward students for the many positive things we see each day. I almost forgot that students are able to receive Discovery Bucks to use at the Explorer Store each week. Continue to encourage your students to be Prompt, Prepared, Polite, and Productive each day.
This upcoming Thursday, September 17th, will be our next SAC and our Annual Title I meetings. This is a very important Meeting, and I ask that, if able, you attend. We will have guests from the district team to help review information regarding the upcoming vote on the tax mileage increase for the school district. We will also be reviewing our SIP Goals as well. Please join us and stay informed.
I am extremely proud of your student and our community and can't wait to see what next week brings.
